We, the People of India




What defines #India? What makes us ‘the Indian people’? What holds together a country with the diversity of a continent? More than anything else it’s our #Constitution in whose preamble we, the people of India, define ourselves with the virtues we revere and seek to preserve and uphold. In the continuing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the upcoming NPR-NRC, it is once again the time to look back at the diversity of our country, its geography and its people, and our constitutional virtues. 

In this video Naseeruddin Shah reads the preamble of the constitution and T. M. Krishna sings the national anthem and we are reminded that more than anything else India is its people.

'Akali Dal is totally against the NRC'




Akali Dal is totally against the NRC. Prakash Singh Badal has conveyed it to the BJP, says Naresh Gujral, adding government must shelve it for all times to come.

Till now, a Muslim in this country felt he was alone. Today he knows the students, the civil society, the secular Indians are with him, Gujral tells NDTV.

No discussions take place in NDA, consultations do not happen. That's why problems are happening. We need the Vajpayee touch...Since the death of Jaitley, channels for consultation are shut.
 
We need to take the focus back to the economic agenda, he added.

Meet the Sikh Who Served Chai, Samosa to Protesting Jamia Students




This young Sikh's solidarity with students in Delhi protesting against the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is hugely praiseworthy and meaningful from multiple dimensions. He travelled hundreds of miles from Bathinda district of Punjab only to show his solidarity and still, he is so modest about his contribution.

Secondly, he represents the best traditions of Sikhism as his journey is reminding the Sikhs all over the world (this video has been already watched by over 350,000 viewers) that their ninth guru Guru Tegh Bahadur (1621-1675) had travelled to Delhi from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab in 1675 along with his three associates to defend the religious human rights of Kashmiri Brahmins who had come to seek his support when their rights were being violated by the then Moghul emperor.
