If Congress is his real mother, what was AAP for Sidhu questions Akali Dal

The Shiromani Akali Dal today hit out at ‘newly born’ Congress leader Navjot Sidhu for his dirty dialogues and cheap language against the political opponents and reminded him that during the last Haryana assembly elections the SAD had won the Kalanwali seat with huge margin where he had campaigned aggressively against the party.

In a statement released here today, the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that Navjot Sidhu may be a good actor of the laughter shows who can do good entertainment of the public with his dialogues, but he cannot mislead the public in political field with these dialogues. She reminded the ‘celebrity leader’ of the Congress party that he had campaigned aggressively against the SAD during the Haryana elections on Kalanwali seat where the candidate of the SAD had won the election with thumping majority and the person for whom he campaigned  was not even a close contestant.

Mrs. Badal  said that now history will be repeated in Punjab and whatever foul and abusive language he chooses against the SAD, it will go in favour of the SAD as the people are aware of the truth that it is only the SAD-BJP alliance which had carried out unprecedented development in the state besides implementing various welfare measures for different sections of the society.

She also reminded the former MP of Amritsar that his claims of discrimination with the holy city have also been exposed before the people and what has been done  with the blessings of almighty in Amritsar, he cannot have imagined that.

Ridiculing his claim of ‘ghar vapsi’ and the Congress being his real mother party, the SAD leader asked him that if the case was so, what the AAP was for him as he had series of meetings with the AAP leadership to join the party which had even offered post of Deputy Chief Minister of the state to him.

Harsimrat said that the reality is that Sidhu is good for nothing in the political field and his illusions of turning the fortunes of the Congress party  in the present assembly elections with his campaign full of dirty dialogues and foul language will be proved wrong on March 11, 2017.

SYL not a political issue, It's matter of survival of Punjab and it's farmer's: Sukhbir Badal

Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was utterly surprising that when Punjab is fighting a tough battle to save its lifeline by saving its precious waters, the AAP leadership is terming it as a political issue. He said that the state had already suffered huge losses due to wrong, illogical and mindless decisions of the erstwhile Congress led centre governments who gave a major share of waters of the state to non-riparian states and now the Delhi CM is terming this very emotional issue which is concerned with the very survival of life on Punjab as a political one.

Badal said that it was also surprising that the AAP leadership had already started talking against the state even though they are contesting elections, what will happen if they grab power in state is now clear to everyone. He said that AAP particularly Kejriwal wants to deprive the state of its waters so that hard earned peace of the state is disturbed which is the sole motive of this rookie party.

Lashing out at the Delhi based party for trying to disturb the communal harmony and peace in the state, He said that after the arrest of Delhi MLA of AAP in the desecration case of Kuran Sharif, incidents in this regard stopped immediately in the state, which is ample proof that AAP is behind all the sacrilege incidents occurred in the state. He said that this party was toeing the line of the Congress whose agenda also is to disturb communal harmony of the society.

Coming down heavily for deputing non Punjabi's to assess the work of the state leaders, Badal further said that AAP is the only party in the history of the state which has appointed an all time working non Punjabi as Incharge of the state. He said that appointment of non Punjabi was done as Kejriwal and his coterie knows that Punjabi's will never work against the state as per their diktats. He said that motive of the AAP leadership is disturb the peace of the state only to derive political mileage of every incident and they are least cared for development of the state.

Amarinder rules out any alliance, confident of absolute majority

Amarinder rules out any alliance, confident of absolute majority

Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ruled out an alliance with any party, asserting that the Congress would sweep the assembly elections with 2/3rds majority.

Dismissing as ridiculous the charges leveled by Arvind Kejriwal that he had decided to contest Lambi, which in any case was part of Patiala estate till 1930, to help Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amarinder said the AAP leader was talking through his head without a rational thought in his mind. First he said I should fight Badal and now he says I’m helping the chief minister by contesting against him, said Captain Amarinder, describing Kejriwal’s statements as ludicrous and making it clear that his decision to contest Lambi was not in response to any perceived or real challenge from Kejriwal but was motivated only by his desire to save the people of Punjab from the Badals.

Lashing out at Kejriwal for his baseless allegations against the Congress, Captain Amarinder asked how the Akalis and the Congress could be in collusion, as alleged by the AAP leader, when they were out to defeat each other in the polls.

Responding to a wide range of questions from mediapersons before setting out to file his nomination papers from Patiala, Captain Amarinder asserted that both Patiala and Lambi were important constituencies for him and a decision on which he would quit would be taken at the appropriate time.

He, however, made it clear that development of Patiala would remain high on his agenda and his government would allocate funds and revive the Patiala development authority for the welfare of the region.

In response to a question, Captain Amarinder said his wife and sitting MLA Preneet Kaur, who had made for him in the assembly polls under the `one-family-one-ticket’ rule, would be contesting in the parliamentary elections.

Captain Amarinder dismissed any serious threat from General JJ Singh, whom the Akalis had pitted against him in Patiala, saying he was always an average cadet and a bogus man who became the chief of the army staff due to his seniority, without any caliber to back. Having been made army chief and then a governor by the UPA, he was now claiming to have been upset by Operation Bluestar, exposing himself to be the fraud he is, said the PPCC president.

Captain Amarinder clarified in response to a question that he could not be present in New Delhi for Navjot Singh Sidhu’s joining of the Congress as he was busy campaigning in Punjab. He cited his strong Patiala connection with Sidhu, whom he had known since he was a kid, to make it clear that there was no tension between him and the ex-cricketer, who had joined the Congress unconditionally.

Sidhu’s role, and his own for that matter, would be decided by the Congress high command, said Captain Amarinder, adding that he and Sidhu would be campaigning for the party through a joint road show in Amritsar on 19th January. He reiterated that Sidhu would be a star campaigner for the Congress in the Punjab polls.

To another question, Captain Amarinder said there was no change of candidates on any seats, except some SC seats, and the party was sticking to its stand of giving one ticket in one family and also to its winnability criteria.

On the SYL issue, Captain Amarinder once again asserted that his government would bring a new legislation to protect the water rights of Punjab and will make sure that not a single drop of water leaves the state.

Earlier, Captain Amarinder welcomed into the Congress several key AAP leaders, who said they had decided to quit Kejriwal’s party when they realized that it was misleading the people under the garb of `inquilaab’. Only Captain Amarinder could save the people from AAP’s poisonous intentions, they added.

The joinees, who were part of the AAP Screening Committee that was allotting seats to candidates under Dr. Dharam Vir Gandhi, MP Patiala, included Dr. Karamjit Singh (Retd IAS), Kabul Singh (AAP Legal Wing, Khadur Sahib), Ram Kamboj (AAP Intellectual Wing, Khadur Sahib), Babu Singh Brar (AAP Intellectual Wing, Fardikot) and Surinder Singh (AAP volunteer from Ferozepur).

New list of Congress out; Captain to fight from Lambi, Sidhu gets Amritsar East

New list of Congress out; Captain to fight from Lambi, Sidhu gets Amritsar East

Captain Amarinder Singh is all set to file his nomination papers against SAD heavyweight, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, from Lambi on Wednesday with the Congress high command clearing his name for the seat on Tuesday evening, while announcing tickets from six more seats and changing the nominees from  four others.

While the party’s star campaigner, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu will fight from Amritsar East in place of his wife, who had earlier been shortlisted for ticket from the constituency, Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu has been assigned the task of taking on Sukhbir Singh Badal from his constituency of Jalalabad.

Sidhu’s associate and former hockey player Pargat Singh has been allotted the ticket from Jalandhar Cantt, with Jalandhar DCC Rural president Jagbir Singh Brar chosen to contest the Nakodar seat.

For Sanaur, Harinder Pal Singh (Harry) Mann, former Punjab Information Commissioner, has been given the ticket.

The seats for which the party has changed its nominees are Jagraon (ex-MLA Malkiat Singh Dakha in place of Geja Ram), Jalandhar North (Bawa Henry, son of former Punjab minister Avtar Henry instead of Rajkumar Gupta) and Bholath (Ranjit Singh Rana instead of Guwinder Singh Atwal). The party has also changed the candidate from Phillaur-SC, giving ticket now to Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary in place of his mother Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.

Nominees for the pending seats of Amritsar South, Mansa and Ludhiana East will be announced by Tuesday.

It may be recalled that Captain Amarinder had requested the party high command for permission to take Parkash Singh Badal head-on from Lambi in order to wipe out the top Akali leadership from the state’s political scene and free the people of Punjab from the vicious grip of the Badals.
