Chief Minister Punjab Capt. Amarinder Singh’s comprehensive interview to ‘National Media’ on host of issues having serious implication for the State calls for decoding. When each and every answer to the focused interrogatories, is marred with paradoxical aberration then why blame the opposition? It sounds too ingenuous for the Chief Minister to say that those who quickly reacted to my interview, did not read the full text of his question answer session with the journalists.
I thoroughly read each word of the questions and the answers. I am extremely sorry to say that the answers given, lack cogent articulation. And it certainly calls for observatory comments for obvious reasons. Unfortunately the entire interview is blemished for want of validation of facts.
Chief Minister has been constantly vague and contradicting his own assertions one after another. For instances his takes on economic slowdown, he contradicts his own party position, contrary to facts marshaled by none other than Dr. Manmohan Singh (An internationally acclaimed Fiscal Wizard ). While asserting that Punjab has not been affected with the economic slowdown, CM has said "every third day we have someone or the other meeting me to show interest in investing here”.
But on the contrary CM has admitted that ‘teams of Government officials and Ministers have visited Singapore, UAE, German and other countries for investments, as It is needed to revive the economy’.
He has even admitted that the coffers of the State were empty at one stage to pay the salaries to its employee, had they not borrowed money from other sources. But State is still growing remarkably as per the insalubrious assertion of the Chief Minister.
On Bargari Morcha and Sacrilege issue, while the CM Amarinder maintained studied silence on the letter sent to CBI by Prabodh Kumar ADGP and SIT Chief, and ironically his ministers were crying foul on this development, but CM’s interview confirm the impression that everything in this regard was done with his approval, in the terrific contrast of the explicit direction of the State legislature, in the form of a motion, unanimously passed by the House not to allow any investigation in the Sacrilege issue by the CBI.
He has out rightly declared S. Parkash Singh Badal as ‘innocent’ in the sacrilege case and I quote the CM saying "As for as the first part (sacrilege) is concerned, Badal (Parkash Singh) is not involved”.
What more is left to decode this categorical clean chit to Badal?
Answering another pertinent question: ‘So, it is difficult to establish the criminality part of that (sacrilege issue)’. The Chief Minister again clarified, "There is no criminality. This is politics. They (Badals) wanted the support of the Dera. That’s one side of the story, but that there was criminality involved in it is for the investigation to find out. I don’t think that. I believe there were political adjustments, they were making for election”. In this obvious reference to the element of criminality in the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, the CM has again implicitly exonerated Badals in the entire episode and whitewashed their perceived involvement in the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
As for as the security threat to the State is concerned in one of the answer to the question CM Amarinder has boasted, "If there is a police firing, I, as a Chief Minister and Home Minister, should know. Otherwise, I am an incompetent home minister”. But about the sorties of Chinese drones from Pakistan, dropping consignments of arms and ammunition in Punjab, this ‘Competent Home Minister’ (Capt. Amarinder Singh) didn’t even have a wind.
So much so, when Chief Minister was questioned about Drones dropping arms in Punjab; the most ignominious reply of the ignorant Chief Minister was " I don’t know whether Indian Air Force radar can detect them (Drones) or not .These are Chinese Drones.”
What a misfortune, if a Chief Minister who himself happened to an Army Captain and served as ADC to the most brilliant and illustrious General of the Indian Army, Lt. General Harbux Singh, and who is always encircled rather glued with his blue eyed Advisors including Lt. General T.S Shergill (In the Cabinet Rank), does not even has the basic knowledge on the ability of the Indian Air Force Radar’s delectability.
If you are all ignorant about the capability of our Armed forces including the Air Force, than why make things public that pertain to the National Security. To remain shut on super sensitive issues certainly could be a better option. (Now please don’t appoint another retired Air Martial, as an Advisor in the Cabinet Minister rank, just to gain some knowledge about the capability of the Air Force radar)
Mr Chief Minister, why blame and imprecate the opposition for its quick and rightful reaction to your half baked and incalculably flawed interview, stained with absurd notions?
