The Cabinet, at its meeting today, congratulated Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the hassle-free procurement of paddy despite the record rice production in the state. Even Basmati production in Punjab had gone up by around 60% in this season, the Chief Minister, who chaired the meeting, was informed.
Amarinder lauded the concerned department and officials for the excellent management of the procurement operations and expressed the hope that this would lead to the revival of agriculture in the state and come as a relief to the distressed farmers.
