A place like a gym that is supposed to make you healthier and give you fit body can even kill you. A 22-year-old techie who used to work for Dell lost his life while working out in the gym.
According to Madhapur police, Varun Kumar, 22, was a native of Vizag, residing in Madhapur. He was working as a software professional in Dell company for the past one year.
As per reports, Varun went to the gym, which is on the premises of Dell campus at around 11am. Around noon, Varun suddenly complained of chest pain and started to sweat profusely.
"The gym instructors asked him to sit for a while, but he suddenly collapsed in a heap and became unconscious. Varun was rushed to the company clinic on the campus. The doctor checked Varun’s blood pressure, and found that his pulse was hovering at 40,” Madhapur sub-inspector P Vijay Kumar said.
Later, Varun was rushed to Max care hospital, where he was declared brought dead. It was suspected that Varun died due to exhaustion caused by an excessive workout in the gym.Police suspect that Varun did not eat properly the previous night, and worked out, which may have led to extreme exhaustion.
According to initial reports Varun also had some heart problems.
"An autopsy was conducted, and the body was handed over to the parents. A case of suspicious death under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code has been registered, and the viscera was sent for a forensic exam," Vijay Kumar said.
Varun's tragic and untimely death should make one realise the importance of understanding that the body cannot adapt to an overworked lifestyle. Excessive exercise for which the body is not prepared can cause extensive oxidative damage.
