A manager at a five-star hotel in Delhi is seen yanking an employee's saree and dragging her to him in an aggressive act of sexual harassment caught on CCTV camera. The shocking footage from Pride Plaza near the airport has been shared by the 33-year-old woman, who was inexplicably sacked yesterday. The man who assaulted her, the hotel's security manager, was suspended.
While talking to ANI, the victim said that she had reported the whole incident to the Human Resource Department, but no action has been taken against the security manager so far. The woman then approached the police with a complaint on August 1.
Police finally arrested the man on Friday after TV news channels ran a video of the alleged molestation. "The accused was arrested on Friday and produced in a court. He was granted bail by the court,” said Dependra Pathak, Delhi Police spokesperson.
The entire episode was captured on the CCTV. The footage shows security manager pulling her saree. The camera also captured another hotel staff member, who later left the room.
"I have been terminated from my job now. Showed footage to my ma'am but she said only a warning letter will be given to him," the woman told ANI.
The victim, who worked on the front desk of the hotel, has told police that the hotel’s security manager had been pressuring her to establish physical relations with him for quite some time, but she had rejected his advances.
One evening late last month, on her birthday, the security chief approached her and allegedly offered to buy her a gift. When she refused the offer, he allegedly pulled her by her saree in front of another male employee.
She is seen in the video clutching her saree tightly while speaking to him. The woman's immediate superior, who was seen simply leaving the room in the video, was also suspended, said a hotel spokesperson.
