The cyber cell of Mumbai police on Friday registered an FIR against All India Bakchod after the comedy group posted a meme showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi using the dog filter on Snapchat.
The FIR was registered under section 500 (defamation) of IPC and 67 IT act (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) taken at cyber police station at Bandra-Kurla Complex.
AIB had yesterday posted an image of a lookalike of the Prime Minister at a railway station, along with a photo of PM Modi with a Snapchat dog filter, captioned #wanderlust. The meme, seen as a dig at PM Modi's foreign tours, provoked strong reactions. AIB was accused of insulting the PM and hurting national sentiment.
This dig didn’t go down well with a Twitter user who took objection to the meme shared by AIB on PM Modi, tagging Mumbai Police on the micro blogging site. In a prompt response, Mumbai Police said that they will forward the complaint to cyber police.
Under criticism by Modi supporters, the AIB had deleted the controversial tweet on PM Narendra Modi. Soon enough, some Twitter users started trolling the AIB - this time for being "scared” of the BJP and deleting the tweet.
