Two days after a video showing army soldiers being heckled by alleged goons in Kashmir, another clip that has gone viral on social media has caused outrage. This time a video clip of a Kashmiri youth allegedly tied in front of an army jeep as human shield against stone pelting has emerged and gone viral.
According to reports, the young man was tied to the front of the jeep to make sure no stones were thrown at the army vehicle while passing through Gundipora village of Beerwah where a re-poll was held on Thursday.
In the clip, an army soldier could be heard saying, "Those who throw stones will meet the same fate.” The video shows the army jeep moving ahead of an army patrol, while some villagers could be overheard that the youth had been picked by the army.
Omar Abdullah posted a video and picture on his official twitter account and indulged in a debate over alleged misconduct of Army personnel. "This young man was TIED to the front of an army jeep to make sure no stones were thrown at the jeep? This is just so shocking!” tweeted Abdullah with a picture of man being tied on front of a jeep of security forces. "Here’s the video as well. A warning can be heard saying stone pelters will meet this fate. This requires an urgent inquiry and follow up,” added Abdullah.
When columnist Tavleen Singh asked Abdullah why didn’t he react on video of CRPF personnel manhandled by Kashmiri boys, the National Conference leaders confronted saying, "Ma’am seriously? You are going to use that video to justify this action. So we should expect no better from the army than from stone pelters?” Omar Abdullah also took on media, alleging selective outrage. "Let’s see channels going ballistic and having discussions with outraged panelists now. Probably not since "Kashmir is ours” hell with Kashmiris,” he said in another tweet.
