Four militants were killed and another was caught alive by security forces during an encounter in Naugam sector near the Line of Control in Kashmir's Kupwara district today.
The incident occurred when Border Security Forces (BSF) exchanged fire with terrorists in the region.
"Four terrorists have been killed while one has been apprehended alive during an operation in Naugam sector," the official said.
The official also said that all the militants were foreign nationals.
However, officials could not ascertain if it was an infiltration bid or not. "We have got one of them alive and expect some vital information from him,"
Lieutenant General DS Hooda on Tuesday said that there have been more infiltration attempts as compared to the previous year, but said the Army much more prepared to prevent any Kargil-like situation.
Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said the government was satisfied with the encounter. He said, "It's a big achievement to catch a terrorist alive. The truth of Pakistan will come to the fore."
