Actor Akshay Kumar, who cheered the Women in Blue at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup held at The Lord's landed into a controversy when he tweeted a picture of himself holding the National flag upside down. After uproar, he tweeted an apology on social media. He removed the picture, and stated that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.
In a now deleted tweet, the 'Rustom' star, while cheering for the Indian team, was seen waving the Indian flag upside down. Following which, the actor was trolled on social media.
Many were quick to point out that the flag was upside down, others took offence, while some others even began trolling the star.
Akshay took note of the same and took down the picture and issued a formal apology on his social media handle saying, "Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolour. Didn't mean to offend anyone, the picture has been removed."
Akshay is currently promoting his film 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' in London. The movie is slated to release on August 11. He is also shooting for his next film 'Gold' which marks the Bollywood debut of television star Mouni Roy.
